Expert in geopolitics and a political scientist with a solid academic background and extensive professional experience in the field of international relations and governance. He holds a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Master’s degree in Governance and Development from the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex.
With more than 12 years of experience in the European sphere, he worked for six years as an advisor in the European Parliament, specializing in international trade and international development. In this role, he gained in-depth knowledge of European Union trade policies, legislative processes, and international relations within the EU framework.
His professional work focuses on building strong, trustworthy relationships with European Union institutions, policymakers, diplomatic representatives, and key stakeholders. This ability to establish and strengthen alliances has enabled him to create communication channels between private organizations and the European institutional landscape, facilitating collaboration on strategic initiatives and fostering dialogue on matters of mutual interest.
Currently, Carlos Villota serves as the director of Acento’s office in Brussels, leading a highly specialized team in European and EU affairs. From this position, he oversees the firm’s strategic consulting work in the European capital, providing tailored solutions to clients in areas such as legislative monitoring, policy analysis, and institutional engagement. His leadership is defined by a combination of technical expertise, analytical skills, and a clear focus on delivering tangible results for the organizations he advises.
