Guillermo Martínez
Former politician and professional with over two decades of experience in public administration and the private sector. Throughout his political career, he has held high-responsibility positions in the Government of the Principality of Asturias, an autonomous community in northern Spain, working in key areas of management, communication, and institutional affairs.
Academically, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Oviedo, where he also completed doctoral coursework in Territorial Analysis. Additionally, he obtained the Certificate of Pedagogical Aptitude (CAP) and a Master’s degree in Politics and Democracy from the National Distance Education University (UNED). His education is further complemented by studies in Energy Security and Security in the Mediterranean, Middle East, and Near East at the Gutiérrez Mellado University Institute, as well as specialized courses in European Affairs from UNED and the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA) in France.
In his public administration career, he has held various leadership positions. He was a member of the Cabinet of the Council of Asturian Communities, Chief Technical Advisor to the Government Delegation in Asturias, and Director of the Asturian Youth Institute. In 2011, he was elected Mayor of Siero, a position he held until March 2012. Subsequently, in May 2012, he was appointed Minister of the Presidency of the Principality of Asturias, where he also served as Government Spokesperson and Secretary of the Council of Government, roles he held until 2019.
After his tenure in the public sector, he transitioned to the private sector. Between October 2020 and May 2021, he worked at Softreria SL in Motril, Andalusia, as Director of Human Resources and Director for Senegal, where he led the creation of a new organizational culture, designed personnel structures during a merger process, and established a business structure in Senegal focused on import, export, and international logistics. Later, from May to October 2021, he served as Director of Projects and Institutional Relations at LABE Abogados, where he developed institutional positioning strategies and managed projects in the legal and public affairs sectors. Since October 2021, he has been serving as General Director at Acento, a consultancy specialising in public affairs in Spain.
